“The Light Within” by Susan Marlowe

Our Price:$85.00

One of the most eyecatching and impressive ruins of a time gone by is the Sheldon Church near Beaufort, SC. Well proportioned and stately, this large church was built of red bricks with great columns around 1745 to 1755.

In 1779, this Anglican church was torched by the British, but was rebuilt in 1826 by the local parishioners. In 1865, troops of Gen. William Sherman burned it again, and it was never rebuilt. Nestled in a grouping of live oaks and dogwoods, the proud ruins seem to call out to the visitor of another time who browses there.

In this spectacular painting Susan Marlowe revisits the Sheldon Church; invoking a heavenly light of color bursting from within to remind us of the timeless beauty and peace of this site and the heavenly presence there. She then through the use of apparitions, magically brings alive the painting, creating ghosts of the old church as it once looked and as it once was used. There is life, fellowship, and Godlinessso complete and so continuous that you know you have shared with her another “Highlight in Time.” © CSA Galleries, Inc. Limited Edition printed on cotton, signed and numbered.

“Love’s Last Light” by Susan Marlowe

Qty:
Our Price:$85.00

This unique art piece portrays a sad widow in the attic of a Charleston, South Carolina home looking at letters from her deceased husband. There in the shadows glows his spirit trying to reach out and make a crossing into the world of the living to let her know of his love also.

This emotional scene is tied to the old ghost story of the love letters tied with blue ribbon in an attic of an old home. The tale goes that on occasions the old letters are mysteriously left unbound while on other dates these are restacked and tied with blue ribbons. The artist has captured this and the many stories of those who went off to battle in the War Between the States never to return while loved ones left behind remembered and hoped. In the light of the lamp this painting is indeed “Love’s Last Light.”
